The project addresses the issue of student housing shortage in the city of Kassel in a flexible and sustainable way. In the face of an increased expansion of the neighboring University of Kassel campus, this mixed-use development envisions three floors of accommodation units packed into reused shipping containers. The building envelops an internal courtyard which, receives optimal amounts of natural lighting and acts as a meeting area for students. Student rooms are distributed across two three-story high volumes connected with a structure comprising the kitchen and other common areas. Thanks to its prefab components, the entire block is highly flexible. It can easily be dismantled and reassembled on another location within the city.
